Self Portrait vs the Selfie

Selfies are taken of oneself. They are taken at arms length or directly into the mirror. Selfies are taken with smartphones or photoediting apps. 

A self portrait is the use of a picture reflection or even memory guide. They are not that modern anymore and people rather take selfies. 

The difference is that a selfie is taking by oneself with digital technology like smartphones and a self portrait is often painted, sculptured or drawn by someone else. 
The difference could also be seen in the social media boom. Selfies are often taken to post on social media like facebook, instagram, snapchat etc. 

I prefer to take selfies because you can see yourself while taking the picture and fix the things you don`t like about it. Its also a really fast way to safe memories with families and friends or at special places. 

I think self portraits are more important because social media kind of destroyed that they are taken seriously. Most of the self portraits now a days are from really important people like presidents etc.

Welcome back!!

I chose this picture because I personally am a fan of David Bowie and was really sad that he died this year. For me this picture also represents the many deaths of other good musicians that died this year. On the picture by itself I like that the focus is on the eyes of the paint like he would still watch over us.


I chose this picture because for me it represents the fear and also the anger that we all had all over the world. This year people showed their honest opinion about politics and human rights. This picture represents what i saw in school, on the streets or in the TV.



This year europe had a big refugee crises and I was part of it. I saw it a lot in my city, Hamburg. Refugees came and got deported. I did a lot of things to help them and to welcome them in my country. I think the was a really important thing this year.

I think this is the best song of 2016 because when this song plays everybody knows the lyrics and in a few years when someone puts this song on we all will remember the mannequin challenge.

Its a good movie because it has a message and shows the trouble in the world of drugs.

3. What was the most important news story of the year?



The most important news this year were that Donald trump won the election because it was a really discussed topic and effects the whole world for the next 4 years.

4. Who was the most important person of 2016 in your opinion?


First woman who became to receive the U.S presidential nomination of political party.

For me the COPA America final was the most important sport event this year because Argentinia was in the final, even if they lost. Messi left Argentina after this came because he is always so close to his dream, this was really hard for me and the rest in my family but even better was the meager from him that he is goon return again.

My holiday
1. I celebrated Christmas Eve with my best friend and her family because my host family doesn't celebrate christmas. 

2. In 2017 I will make the best of the rest of my exchange year here and when I return I will start working to pay a flight ticket back to come visit Austin again. 

3. To see my family again when I return back to Hamburg.
